"Apparently there are some people who DON'T love The Fall..." Thus spake John Peel. I can't say I loved them, but I didn't dislike them, more admired and respected them. Always interesting and Mark E. Smith is was one of rock's great enigmas. Here's my fave Fall track and my fave Smith guest appearance. R.I.P. Mark.
Yeah, this one really hit me. MES managed to always stay relevant with me. Even Sub Lingual Tablet and New Facts Emerge were uniquely pointed MES musical indictments 40 years on.
"Apparently there are some people who DON'T love The Fall..." there are indeed some strange people around. We can be thankful, though, that some berk of a tory mp is not going to opine how he loves Room to Live......
As I said over at my own place, I didn't like everything he released and I didn't always agree with his viewpoints. But he was an essential part of the music scene since my formative years and it seems strange to think he's no longer with us.
Gutted.
