GIG ARCHIVE: #207 - Sorry 12/02/2026

SORRY
The Globe, Cardiff - 12th February 2026
Support: Canty

Sorry are one of those bands it can take time to get into. For each of their three albums, I've had to listen a few times to get properly engaged with them. But once you're in, you're in. This was our first time catching them live, as part of their continuing promotion of their brilliant third (and best) album 'Cosplay'.

A word about support act Canty. Uninspiring. A solo artist whose live performance featuring just them and electric guitar, sounded nothing like their recorded material. Dull.

One of MrsRobster's work colleagues also went to this show and he complained how irritated he was with Asha Lorenz. "One minute her hood's up, then it's down, then she's shaking her arms around randomly..." It's true, Asha is awkwardly fidgety onstage, yet to me, it's totally in keeping with Sorry's style. You see, even live, you can't really pin them down to a specific sound. One minute you get the glitchy electronics of Cigarette Packet, then you might get the bouncy, jazz-infused Right Round The Clock; or there's the louder indie-rock of Today Might Be The Hit followed by the sophisto-pop of Echoes. It seems a Sorry gig is like their records - you never quite know where they're going to take you next, yet it all seems to fit together perfectly.

Highlights of this were too many to mention, but we are big fans of Waxwing and Let The Lights On, both of which dazzled. Sorry are unapologetically diverse, and that's really what makes them so interesting. This won't be our last encounter with them I hope.
