The second of two FREE gigs this weekend, this one featuring local legends The Darling Buds. And joyous news - there's a new album coming, hence this was seen as an ideal opportunity to debut a lot of the new stuff.
Le Pub was full - hardly surprising - but the age range of the audience was quite diverse. Of course the "old gits" like myself were very well represented, but there was a decent number of people the right side of 30 there too.
Along with the great-sounding new songs, a smattering of classics were aired - It's All Up To You, Hit The Ground, Crystal Clear, Sure Thing, etc. There were also a couple deep cuts thrown in - The Other Night, Honeysuckle.
An enjoyable show, for sure. Certainly one of the best I've spent nowt to get into...
Just in case you're wondering about the support band, I'll say this... imagine being at a wedding party, three of your elderly male relatives, who probably attended more free hippy festivals than was recommended, decide to drop an E and commandeer the wedding band's instruments. Yes. That.
