Bloody hell, at last! Our first gig in TWO YEARS. Whatever happens, it was good to be back. She Drew The Gun is not a band who had flickered much on my radar. I was familiar with the name, but that's about as far as it went. Then in 2019 they released a brilliant cover of Frank Zappa's Trouble Every Day and it made me take notice.
In 2021, their third album 'Behave Myself' barged its way into my top records of the year list, so this show was booked on the strength of that.
Clwb was packed out, and I have no recollection at all of the support bands. She Drew The Gun, though, were excellent. The latest album's material sounded great live, especially the electro-banger Panopticon. But for me, the real highlight was the aforementioned Trouble Every Day, which whipped everyone up into a frenzy. It has been talked about as one of the best covers of the 21st century. I'm going to leave that argument to others, but certainly when played live it lives up to the hype.
