The second of three gigs in the same week! I don't remember seeing Thousand Yard Stare, which is a shame becuase I really think I would. I was listening to them a lot at the time. Mind, I might have missed them owing to a stupid ticket error on my part...
I bought three tickets - one for me, and the other two for my friend Ricky and his girlfriend Judith. I drove us down, but it wasn't until we got there I realised I'd forgot my ticket! I mean, what a twat, right? Good thing I'd already given Ricky and Judith theirs otherwise I would have been a dead man. The drive to Exeter took about an hour, so going home and coming back was not an option. I had to do the one thing I'm vehemently opposed to - buy off a tout! No idea how much I paid, but it probably made me feel sick to my stomach.
James were excellent. I think I may have watched them from the balcony, at least for part of the show - it was heaving in the crowd. The whole tour was a sellout owing to James now becoming a household name thanks to the new version of Sit Down becoming a massive hit. I really regret never seeing them earlier.
