DRENGE
Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff - 5th June 2013
Support: The Bohicas
My online research tells me this show took place at the Globe. However, even with my memory being what it was, I can categorically state it was definitely at Clwb. I can distinctly remember us walking in and barely being able to get into the main area as it was so rammed. We were pretty much by the doorway from the bar, craning our necks to catch sight of the Bohicas.
There was a bit of a buzz about the support band at the time. I really loved their single Crush Me so I was looking forward to seeing them myself. They were superb and I had high hopes for them. They released their debut album early in 2015 and promptly disappeared. A real shame.
Drenge were a duo who made a terrific noise, and they too were causing a scene in the music press. Their debut album had been released the year before so everyone present was more than familiar with the songs. The racket they produced was in keeping with the best duos of recent years and again showed great promise. They lasted a bit longer than the Bohicas, releasing three albums, but nothing since 2019's rather good 'Strange Creatures'.
