GIG ARCHIVE: #102 - Young Knives 07/11/2013

YOUNG KNIVES
Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff - 11th November 2013
Support: ???

The Young Knives broke through during a time when my gig going was minimal due to trying to raise a young family on an extremely tight budget. I'd loved their first three albums, so when this show appeared on Clwb's upcoming shows list, I didn't have to think twice.

Essentially, this tour was in support of the band's new album 'Sick Octave', the first of their more experimental records. All tracks from the album were played in order from the start of the show, with a few classics chucked in at the end "because we're not wankers", according to frontman Henry Dartnell.

While 'Sick Octave' isn't an easy record to engage with, it did, nonetheless, sound good in the live setting, while the oldies at the end proved as an uplifting light relief. Though, to be fair, Henry did also tell us some amusing stories, such as the one in the video below..
